Delivering water - at constant temperature - for tapping profiles
Some international standards - about tests with deliveries on the sanitary circuit - request the inlet water temperature to be controlled within limits, for example 10°C+/-2K or 15°C+/-5K while tests are running. A quite common solution to condition the inlet water temperature is to store some volume of water in a tank and keep its temperature under control. This usually means that the tank is included in the circuit of a chiller and that the temperature of the stored water is continuously taken under control. This solution needs space and suitable means to avoid stratification of the temperature in the tank, while energy is consumed to compensate the heat dissipation from tanks insulation. The CWSS is a little system which allows the water temperature to be controlled more easily and efficiently.
The system is dimensioned to produce water at a typical temperature of 10°C, under the following conditions:
The outlet temperature is adjustable by acting on a controller installed on the top of the system. The adjustable range goes from about 2K over the chiller water temperature and the network water temperature.
The proposed system is instantaneous, no storage facilities are needed. The water coming from the network crosses the heat exchanger of the CWSS, where it is cooled by the cold water produced by an external chiller. The produced cold water, at controlled temperature, can be supplied to any equipment of the user. Of course, the network pressure shall be able to produce the needed range of flow rates.
