Solar collectors laboratory

Executing tests according to international standards and R&D free tests

Measurement accuracy and results repeatibility are critical to the laboratory and R&D tests: this is what Microplan laboratory test benches are designed for. The same hardware platform can run several software packages which are based on the applicable international standards of the sector. Tests are run automatically and a test report is automatically produced at the end, while a log function is always available for further needs. R&D free tests are also possible being a synoptic panel available to the operator to execute customised tests by means of keyboard and mouse while having the test evolution under control with a graph.

Test bench studied to carry out tests on solar systems (solar collector or a solar collector with tank) according to the standards listed in the following.

The bench has a double test station, each station can work independently. This allows to test two collectors independently, or to test two systems in parallel. This last feature is especially important in order to compare the test of two systems in the same environmental conditions, which would be otherwise very difficult to obtain, being impossible to control those conditions.

Functions overview

There are two main categories of use:

  • automatic execution of tests according to the standards;
  • interactive use for free R&D tests.

Automatic execution mode
In this mode, the tests are pre-defined in the software according to the standards, but some freedom is left to the user, who can set some parameters of the tests according to his preferences.
In order to run a certain test, the operator selects it from a menu: an Editor panel appears on the screen about the selected test. The operator can confirm or adjust a list of parameters in that panel.

R&D interactive use
This feature gives the user a set of powerful tools for free tests. In short, the operator can manage every resource of the bench working with mouse and keyboard on a Synoptic graphic diagram showing the bench circuits. It includes active elements (valves, switches, proportional/modulating valves etc.) that the operator can control.

International Standards

  • ISO9459-2
  • ISO9806-1
  • EN12975-2
